People and support, telling others and returning to your normal routine.

It may be important to you to tell your story or it may be something you don’t want anyone to know. It can be healing to tell your story and it’s also important to not get stuck in thinking of yourself as a victim.

Telling others can be an important part of returning to your normal routine. There is much more awareness and education now available about PTSD than in the past so it is less likely you will run into people who don’t understand about this illness. Fully engage in taking care of yourself and ask for the support you need. If you are a caregiver for other people, you may need to ask them to support you while you heal. Line up therapy and other medical supports if that is appropriate.

When the PTSD is a result of assault or other criminal matter, you can also use yoga practices as support and preparation for testifying in court.
